Proposed Redevelopment of the Preston Library Site by Brent Council

Below is the proposal put to Brent Cabinet in September 2016

  1. To demolish the existing library building
  2. To seek to acquire Twinstar and to develop 19 new apartments on the combined site with a ground floor space for *D1 Planning Use.
  3. If the Council cannot acquire the Twinstar site it proposes instead to build five new apartments on a redeveloped library site.
  4. The new *D1 space would be offered to any suitable party (community group, surgery, school etc.) to tender to occupy.
  5. The viability study proposes that the Council should accept a bid for at least an annual rent of £51,000 to afford demolition and redevelopment costs.
  6. Community library use would not be guaranteed to be the successful tender.

*D1 use includes library education, place of worship, doctor’s surgery etc.
